To provide quality recreational services in an effort to continuously
accommodate the leisure needs of our growing community
through a spirit of partnership, innovation,
and a commitment to the highest level of service
.

Welcome to Carson City Recreation Division, located in the Community Center at 851 East William Street. One of our many goals is fun for kids of all ages. Knowing that the "kid" in each of us never quite grows up - no matter what our age - leads us to develop the types of programs, activities and services we provide. We also believe that there are many benefits of parks and recreation, and we are committed to establishing those benefits. Leisure activities provide the opportunity to lead balanced lives, so we invite you to take advantage of any and all of the facilities and programs we offer...to satisfy the "kid" in you!

INCLUSION POLICY The Carson City Recreation Division is committed to providing reasonable accommodation and accessibility for all participants.  To ensure that we can meet your accessibility needs, at the time of registration please request and complete a Modification Information Form to help us better understand your requirements.

Program and Activity Registration and Refund Policy

Registration for classes will be held at the time and date specified by the class instructor. Activities and programs that require registration at the Recreation Division Office may be completed during office hours, 8:00am to 5:00pm, Monday through Friday, unless otherwise indicated. No phone registrations will be accepted.

Any participant who desires to enroll in a program that is full may place their name on the waiting list; there are no guarantees for placement.  The waiting list is compiled on a first-come, first served basis.

Refunds

Refunds will only be made if the activity/program is canceled by the Recreation Division. (Contract class refunds will be the responsibility of the instructor.)  Refunds that are requested for any other reason will be made at the discretion of Recreation Management, and are subject to a 10% processing fee.  Also, due to the paperwork involved, there is a 2-3 week waiting period for refunds, after which the check will be mailed.

Youth Enrichment Programs Refund Policy

If you have paid for a week of Youth Programs, and your child will not be attending, you MUST notify the Recreation Program Manager at 283-7428 by Thursday at 5pm prior to the week that will not be attended in order to receive a refund or transfer of monies minus the 10% administrative fee. If you fail to notify the Recreation Program Manager, we will not be able to fill your child’s spot and you will not be able to receive a refund or transfer of monies.

Nonresident Policy

Those who are not residents of Carson City must pay an additional 25% non-resident fee for Recreation programs/activities, not including contract classes.

A resident is any person who resides within the city's corporate limits.  Do you pay a Carson City water bill?  Do you pay Carson City taxes? Most property owners do; apartment dwellers or renters may not but they are considered residents if their landlord does.

A nonresident is any person who does not reside within the corporate limits of Carson City.  Even though your mailing address may be "Carson City", this does not necessarily mean that you are a city resident.  Residents of Mound House and Jacks Valley are not considered Carson City residents since they pay different county taxes.

Returned Check Policy

The City Charges $25.00 for returned checks.  If your check is returned, you will be notified and will need to come into he Recreation Office and Pay IN CASH the amount of the check plus the $25.00 NSF fee in order to remain in the program for which you paid.
